Step 1: Go to plenty of open houses.
Real estate agents tend to benefit from open houses just as much as prospective buyers and sellers. That’s because open houses can be great lead-generation resources for them, which, for you, means a great chance of meeting an agent who can actually help you out. Even if you’re not interesting in buying a particular property, head to an open house and see if you can make contact with an agent. It always helps to keep your options open.
Step 2: Ask your friends for recommendations.
Though open houses can help, they also make it hard to gauge exactly who might fit your particular home buying or selling needs. Any commercial realtor will likely work hard to help you, but some are simply more experienced than others.
